Der englische Begriff bezeichnet seit dem 13. Jahrhundert bejagte Tiere, weil man die Jagd als sportliche Disziplin auffasste, wo der Freizeit-Jäger als sportsman bezeichnet wird, welcher insbesondere in Afrika zum Topos wurde als (Great) White Hunter.

• jagdbare Wildtiere im Unterschied zu Schlachtvieh, cattle
• Game parks Wildreservats, Tierparks mit park rangern
• game drive, die Pirschfahrt
• game walk, den Pirschgang
• game meat
  • im Unterschied zu bushmeat, der Jagdbeute von Menschen, die im bush leben;
  • als Jagdbeute im Unterschied zu 'kill', der von Raubtieren gerissenen Beute.
